We listen to three independent producers from three different cities talk about their work, their motivations, and the challenges they faced as an independent producers based in Seoul (South Korea), Solo (Indonesia) and Singapore. This session aims to highlight the differences/ similarities of the working models and to consider possible responses to challenges and issues raised.

Cui Yin Mok (http://tsuei.co) is an independent multi-disciplinary producer and arts manager. Recent projects include Anticipation of One by SA x NADA x Brandon Tay (Singapore, 2018), and the Speficifisfety series by Lee Mun Wai & Lee Ren Xin (Singapore, 2017; Malaysia, 2018). She is a member of the organising team for Producers SG (http://producers.sg), working on outreach and digital content, and also a voluntary member of the Arts NMP Secretariat. Cui graduated from Goldsmiths University of London with an MA (Distinction) in Arts Administration and Cultural Policy. She was also awarded the National Arts Council Postgraduate Scholarship in 2012.

Having been involved in several performing arts festivals, Jooyoung Koh worked at Korea Arts Management Service from 2006 to 2012. Since leaving the organization, as an independent producer, she has been producing diverse projects mostly with Korean and Japanese artists, exploring relevant contemporary themes as well as forms and processes that are unique to performing arts. She works not only on productions for theaters but also context-oriented, site-specific projects and methodologies making use of alternative spaces and outdoor environments.

Sekar Putri Handayani started working in performing arts field since 2007 as a freelance production manager, working with some senior artists from abroad and Indonesia. Since 2014, she has been working as an independent producer, especially on dance. As dance producer, she has been working intensively with Otniel Tasman, a young choreographer from Banyumas, Central Java, developing research-based work and combining script material with exploration-improvisation. Some of her new experiences are the practice of dramaturgy and curating in the process of producing creation, and designing the way to connect with the audiences through social media, especially for conceptual work.
Sekar Putri Handayani เริ่มทำงานด้านศิลปะการแสดงตั้งแต่ปี 2007 ในฐานะผู้จัดการโปรดักชั่นฟรีแลนซ์ โดยทำงานกับศิลปินอาวุโสจากต่างประเทศและในอินโดนีเซีย ตั้งแต่ปี 2014 เป็นต้นมาเธอทำงานในฐานะโปรดิวเซอร์อิสระ โดยเฉพาะในงานเต้นรำ ในฐานะแดนซ์โปรดิวเซอร์ เธอคร่ำเคร่งทำงานร่วมกับ Otniel Tasman นักออกแบบท่าเต้นรุ่นใหม่จากบันยูมาส ชวากลาง เพื่อพัฒนางานที่มีฐานงานวิจัย และผสมผสานการเขียนบทเข้ากับการสำรวจตรวจสอบ-การแสดงสด ประสบการณ์ใหม่ ๆ ของเธอถือเป็นการฝึกฝนศาสตร์การละคร และดูแลกระบวนการสร้างสรรค์และออกแบบวิธีการสื่อสารกับผู้ชมผ่านโซเชียลมีเดีย โดยเฉพาะงานเชิงแนวคิด
