Charnvit Kasetsiri (born 1941) is a History Professor of Thammasat University, Bangkok, Thailand, and a prominent historian and Thai Studies scholar. After obtaining his Bachelor’s degree in Diplomacy with Honours from Thammasat (1963), he pursued his M.A. in Diplomacy and World Affairs at Occidental College, Los Angeles, California (1967) under a Rockefeller scholarship, and his Ph.D. in Southeast Asian History at Cornell University (1972). His thesis, The Rise of Ayudhya and a History of Siam in the 14th and 15thCenturies, was published by Oxford in Asia in 1976. He served as Lecturer of History at Thammasat from 1973 to 2001, founded the Southeast Asian Studies Program in 2000, and was President of Thammasat University from 1995 to 1996. His latest works deal with questions of war and peace, and relations between ASEAN countries – especially between Thailand and Cambodia. He is a co-author, along with Pavin Chachavalpongpun (Kyoto) and Pou Sothirak (Phnom Penh), of Preah Vihear: A Guide to the ThaiCambodian Conflict and Its Solutions (2013). Charnvit was awarded the Fukuoka Academic Prize in 2012, as well as the award for Distinguished Contributions to Asian Studies by the Association for Asian Studies, USA in 2014.


ชาญวิทย์ เกษตรศิริ (เกิดปี 2484) เป็นศาสตราจารย์สาขาวิชาประวัติศาสตร์ของมหาวิทยาลัยธรรมศาสตร์ กรุงเทพฯ ประเทศไทย และเป็นนักประวัติศาสตร์และนักวิชาการด้านไทยศึกษาที่มีชื่อเสียง หลังสำเร็จการศึกษาระดับปริญญาตรีสาขาการทูตด้วยเกียรตินิยมจากมหาวิทยาลัยธรรมศาสตร์ (2506) เขาได้รับปริญญาศิลปศาสตรมหาบัณฑิตสาขาการทูตและการต่างประเทศที่ Occidental College ลอสแอนเจลิส แคลิฟอร์เนีย (2510) ภายใต้ทุนการศึกษาจากร็อคกี้เฟลเลอร์และปริญญาเอกด้านประวัติศาสตร์เอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ที่ Cornell University (2515) วิทยานิพนธ์ของเขา The Rise of Ayudhya and a History of Siam in the 14th and 15th Centuries ถูกตีพิมพ์โดยสำนักพิมพ์ Oxford ในเอเชียในปี 2519 เขาดำรงตำแหน่งอาจารย์ในสาขาวิชาประวัติศาสตร์ที่มหาวิทยาลัยธรรมศาสตร์ในปี 2516 ถึง 2544 และได้ก่อตั้งโครงการเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ในปี 2543 จากนั้นขึ้นเป็นอธิการบดีมหาวิทยาลัยธรรมศาสตร์ในปี 2538 ถึง 2539 ผลงานล่าสุดของเขาเกี่ยวกับปัญหาของสงครามและสันติภาพและความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างประเทศในกลุ่มอาเซียน โดยเฉพาะความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างประเทศไทยกับกัมพูชา เขาเป็นนักเขียนร่วมกับปวิน ชัชวาลพงศ์พันธ์ (เกียวโต) และ ภู โสธิรักษ์ (พนมเปญ) ใน Preah Vihear: A Guide to the Thai-Cambodian Conflict and Its Solutions (2013) ดร. ชาญวิทย์ได้รับรางวัล Fukuoka Academic Prize ในปี 2555 รวมถึงรับรางวัลผู้ทำประโยชน์ดีเด่นด้านเอเชียศึกษา โดยสมาคมเอเชียศึกษาแห่งสหรัฐอเมริกาในปี 2557
