In the midst of debates and questions that the contemporary have towards the traditional in performing arts, it is only rarely that we get to hear the opinion in a reversed directly. This panel, therefore, serves as a platform for traditional artists to voice their opinions towards contemporary arts - whether or not they share the same doubts and questions.

Jampa Saenprom, born in Chiang Rai, came to live in Bangkok since 1978. She has been a practitioner singer of 'Soh' (Northern Thai folk music) since her childhood years in Ban Dong School, Chiang Rai. She is currently the headmistress of the Lanna Cultural School, Wachiratham Sathit Temple.
จำปา แสนพรม เกิดที่เชียงราย มาอยู่กรุงเทพ ตั้งแต่ปี 2521 เป็นศิลปินขับซอ หรือเพลงพื้นบ้านภาคเหนือ ขับมาตั้งแต่ จบ ป.4 ที่ โรงเรียน บ้านดง หมู่ที่ 8 ตำบล แม่เย็น อำเภอ พาน จังหวัด เชียงราย ปัจจุบัน เป็นครูใหญ่ โรงเรียนสืบสานศิลปวัฒนธรรมล้านนา วัดวชิรธรรมสาธิต
Nyan Lin Aung, professional Myanmar traditional dance and marionette artist, received B.A (Dramatic Arts) Hons. from the Department of Dramatic Arts, National University of Arts and Culture (Yangon), after which he worked as a part time instructor at the Dramatic Arts Department for a year. Upon the invitation of Ban Somdejchaopraya Rajabhat University, he performed and demonstrated traditional Myanmar Dance between Thailand and Myanmar for the Cultural Exchange program in 2012. He was selected for Artist Delegation from Ministry of Culture in International Ramayana Festival 2013 in Indonesia. He was invited by the Myanmar Embassies in South Africa and Malaysia to present his dance and puppet performances in 2016. In 2011, he won the Myanmar Traditional Competition of Dance and Marionette. In 2016, he received an invitation from the President of Thailand Music Educators Association (TMEA) to demonstrate as a Myanmar Dance Teacher Instructor for the 4th ASEAN Music and Dance Forum, and from the President of Nakkhon Si Thammarat Rajabhat University to demonstrate as a Myanmar Dance Teacher Instructor for the 3rd International Music and Performing Arts workshop.
นยาน ลิน อาง เป็นศิลปินหุ่นกระบอกและนักเต้นพื้นเมืองมืออาชีพชาวพม่า สำเร็จการศึกษารับปริญญาตรีด้านศิลปการแสดง (เกียรตินิยม) จากภาควิชาศิลปะการละคอน มหาวิทยาลัยศิลปะและวัฒนธรรมแห่งชาติ (ย่างกุ้ง) หลังจากจบการศึกษาระดับปริญญาตรี เขาได้ทำงานเป็นอาจารย์พิเศษที่ภาควิชาศิลปะการละคอนอยู่เป็นเวลาหนึ่งปี ลิน อาง เคยได้รับคำเชิญจากมหาวิทยาลัยราชภัฎบ้านสมเด็จเจ้าพระยาเพื่อสาธิตการเต้นพื้นเมืองพม่าในงานแลกเปลี่ยนวัฒนธรรมไทยพม่าปี 2012 นอกจากนั้น ลิน อาง ยังได้รับคัดเลือกให้เป็นตัวแทนศิลปินจากกระทรวงวัฒนธรรมให้เข้าร่วมงาน International Ramayana Festival ที่จัดขึ้นในปี 2013 ณ ประเทศอินโดนิเซียอีกด้วย บทบาทในฐานะทูตทางวัฒนธรรมของเขายังรวมไปถึงการได้รับเชิญจากสถานทูตพม่าประจำประเทศแอฟริกาใต้และมาเลเซียให้สาธิตการเต้นและการแสดงหุ่นกระบอก ในปี 2016 เขาชนะรางวัล Myanmar Traditional Competition of Dance and Marionette และในปีเดียวกันนี้เอง ยังได้รับคำเชิญจากประธานสมาคมครูดนตรีแห่งประเทศไทยให้เป็นวิทยากรสำหรับงาน 4th ASEAN Music and Dance Forum และจากอธิการบดีมหาวิทยาลัยราชภัฎนครศรีธรรมราชให้ในงาน the 3rd International Music and Performing Arts

Assistant Professor Dr. Sukanya Sompiboon is currently Head of Department of Speech Communication and Performing Arts, Chulalongkorn University, Thailand. In 2012 she completed her PhD in Drama entitled The Reinvention of Thai Traditional-Popular Theatre: Contemporary Likay Praxis at University of Exeter, UK. Her research areas include tradition-based contemporary theatre and reinvented popular performances in Thailand. Sukanya Sompiboon has actively presented articles at academic conferences both international and national levels. She has also published her research articles in different academic journals and conference proceedings. Her article entitled “Likay Aka Oni Red Demon: Encounter and Exchange of Intercultural Performance” has been published in the iafor Journal of Literature & Librarianship Volume 2 Issue 1 Spring 2013. “From ‘Naga Wong’ to ‘The Message’: the Intercultural Collaboration and Transformation of Makhampom’s Experimental Likay Performance”, is published as a book chapter in a book entitled Embodying transformation: transcultural performance. (2015) edited by Maryrose Casey. Clayton, Victoria, Australia Monash University Publishing. Her article entitled “Likay Goes To Japan” was published in SPAFA Journal: Contemporary Thai Theatre Volume 22 Number 1 January - June 2012. Currently, she is working on her research “Performing Process of Intercultural Performance between Thai Tradition-Based Popular Performance and British Panto.
Apart from an academic, she is a singer, actress, director and playwright on traditional-popular and contemporary theatre. Sukanya Sompiboon is a permanent member of the Makhampom Theatre Troupe and the Anatta Theatre Troupe. She has performed a number of the Makhampom’s contemporary Likay projects and contemporary theatre productions since 2003. Sukanya Sompiboon is also the trainer and facilitator in many well-known government sectors and private companies for more than 100 companies since 2000. She is profound expert in human communication skills training, art-based activities contributors, public speaking and presentation techniques as well as teambuilding by using applied performing arts and speech communication knowledge and practices.
ผู้ช่วยศาสตราจารย์ ดร. สุกัญญา สมไพบูลย์ หัวหน้าภาควิชาวาทวิทยาและสื่อสารการแสดง คณะนิเทศศาสตร์ จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย จบปริญญาเอกการละคร จาก University of Exeter ประเทศสหราชอาณาจักร ดุษฎีนิพนธ์เรื่อง The Reinvention of Thai Traditional-Popular Theatre: Contemporary Likay Praxis ซึ่งเกี่ยวกับการทำความเข้าใจการผสมผสานวัฒนธรรมการแสดงดั้งเดิมกับวัฒนธรรมร่วมสมัยที่เกี่ยวพันกับสังคม เศรษฐกิจ การเมืองและรูปแบบการสร้างวัฒนธรรมของไทย สุกัญญาเชี่ยวชาญและชื่นชมศิลปะการแสดงพื้นบ้านและวัฒนธรรมประชาชน ทั้งลิเก เพลงพื้นบ้าน เพลงลูกทุ่ง สนใจเรื่องสุนทรียะและการเมืองเรื่องรสนิยม ภาษา เพศ และความบันเทิงแบบประชาชน
สุกัญญาได้มีโอกาสนำเสนอผลงานทางวิชาการระดับนานาชาติและระดับชาติมาอย่างต่อเนื่อง และไดรับการตีพิมพ์ทั้ง proceeding, journal และเป็น book chapter ปัจจุบันกำลังทำงานวิจัย 3 เรื่อง คือ (1) กระบวนการสร้างสรรค์การแสดงจากการผสมผสานทางวัฒนธรรมระหว่างละครพื้นบ้านไทยกับละครบริทิช แพนโท (2) ละครร้องร่วมสมัยของประดิษฐ ประสาททอง (3) การสังเคราะห์องค์ความรู้สื่อบันเทิงคดีในวิทยานิพนธ์ คณะนิเทศศาสตร์ จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย 2524 – 2558 นอกจากงานวิชาการแล้ว สุกัญญายังเป็นศิลปินและนักปฏิบัติการทางด้านการแสดง ในฐานะผู้กำกับ เขียนบท นักแสดง นักร้อง ทั้งละครเวทีร่วมสมัย ละครร้อง คอนเสิร์ตเพลงลูกทุ่งและเพลงลูกกรุง
