2020 is another year to remember for BIPAM
Due to the pandemic, we couldn't hold our annual meeting as usual, nonetheless, we hosted many activities on the ground and online. The Under The SEA webinar series was an online platform that invited all 11 countries in Southeast Asia to have casual talks about what was happening and discuss current trends in each country. We also co-curated online performing arts works with international festivals. It was the first time for BIPAM to work with artists outside the boundaries of the performing arts.
Every crisis is an opportunity. We have learned so much even though we couldn’t meet in person. Scores of fruitful conversations moved us forwards.

2021 starts afresh with a couple of pieces of news for our friends abroad.
Under The SEA on demand
This is a history of the performing arts across SEA the year the world was disrupted. We realized that the conversations in this series were too precious to lose. All the videos have been uploaded online, and you can now purchase access to all of them for a single price.
In addition to the Under The SEA project, we plan to launch more videos that we think will be very useful for researchers, students, producers, art managers, or even festival owners across the world who want to learn more about contemporary performing arts in this region.
The conversations from 11 countries in SEA, including Brunei and Timor-Leste, are about the trends, obstacles, and what each country expects for the future. You will get to know artists, educators, journalists, art makers, art managers, and producers who are key players in their own countries. SEA is a region of diversity and we made sure audiences would learn that from our carefully selected speakers.
How to purchase videos on demand
1. Go to the BIPAM website and click the Under The SEA menu heading to go to the payment form.
2. Fill in your information then click ‘donate’.
3. You will be taken to a PayPal external link. You can choose to pay via PayPal or your credit/debit card.
4. The link to the videos and password will be sent to your registered email.
5. Follow the link and use the password to access the videos. Enjoy!

This is a one-time, single-price payment.
Your purchase will be valid until 31 December 2021.
As well as the Under The SEA webinar series, your payment will also be valid for any other talks and shows that BIPAM uploads throughout the year.
BIPAM 2021 in September
BIPAM's 2021 annual meeting has been postponed until 1-5 September. In the meantime, we will focus on online projects and live streaming opportunities.
The world in the era of COVID-19 has brought countless questions to many lives. How do we begin to seek and grasp the strength necessary to get back on our feet?
The theme of OWNERSHIP invites you to explore your ownership of things around you - body, gender, work, property, ideologies, opinions, worldviews, history - to find out what you truly own and therefore can voice and make choices over.
And finally
We want to share happiness with our dear friends in the contemporary arts who put so much effort into making it blissfully creatively and brilliantly through a highly unusual year. May 2021 be full of awesome ideas!
