The City & The City 2020: Divided Senses Exhibition by the Tokyo artists was held from 30 October – 1 November 2020 at the Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre in Ikebukuro, Tokyo.
Even though going to Tokyo is impossible due to the pandemic, you can still have a glimpse of Tokyo exhibition through the virtual tour guided by Tokyo artists, Chisato Sone, Shomi Sakurauchi and Shikine Watanabe, on both the Festival/Tokyo and BIPAM websites. Please enjoy watching the video!
About the exhibition
What fills the whole theatre is the body of the city. If the city were a single, giant life form, where would we find the physical functions of digestion, absorption, metabolism, cycles, excretion, and production? For 30 minutes, visitors immersed themselves in 24 hours in the body of the city. They moved around the venue while examining the five senses, attuning themselves to both their own bodies as well as the city of Tokyo that exists outside the walls of the venue.

นิทรรศการ The City & The City: Divided Senses จากการสร้างสรรค์ของศิลปินโตเกียวในโครงการความร่วมมือระหว่างกรุงเทพฯ กับ โตเกียวโดย BIPAM และ Festival/ Tokyo ได้จัดขึ้นที่โรงละคร Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre ย่านอิเคะบุคุโระ กรุงโตเกียว เมื่อวันที่ 30 ต.ค. – 1 พ.ย. 2563
แม้ว่าในปีนี้ การเดินทางไปยังโตเกียวจะไม่สามารถเกิดขึ้นได้ ด้วยสถานการณ์โรคระบาดที่เป็นอุปสรรคต่อการเดินทางไปมาระหว่างประเทศ แต่ผู้ชมสามารถชมภาพบางส่วนและบรรยากาศของนิทรรศการได้ จากทัวร์นิทรรศการเสมือนจริงที่ศิลปินทีมโตเกียว จิซาโตะ โซเนะ, โชมิ ซากุระอุจิ และ ชิคิเนะ วาตะนะเบะ เป็นผู้นำชมด้วยตนเอง

ร่างกายของโตเกียวได้ถูกสร้างสรรค์และจัดวางจนเต็มพื้นที่ของโรงละคร ด้วยแนวคิดว่าหากโตเกียวเป็นร่างกายอันใหญ่โตร่างหนึ่ง ผู้ชมจะได้เห็นระบบการทำงานของร่างกายนั้นทั้งการย่อยสลาย ดูดซึม เผาผลาญ ขับถ่าย และการสร้างเซลล์ใหม่ๆ นิทรรศการนี้ ได้จำลองกระบวนการ 24 ชั่วโมงของเมืองโตเกียว มาสร้างเป็นประสบการณ์ในช่วงเวลา 30 นาที ให้ผู้ชมได้รับรู้ด้วยประสาทสัมผัสทั้ง 5 ก่อนออกไปสัมผัสตัวตนของเมืองโตเกียวที่อยู่ภายนอกนิทรรศการ
