“We may feel the weakest and most worthless when we feel like there’s nothing that’s ours. Nothing at all is in our hands. Nothing that we can have choice and control over. All that surrounds us seems constantly pushed, squeezed, framed, and dictated by someone or something else. This desperation has been lurking and ever-present right from the outbreak of COVID-19 earlier in 2020. It has since raised many questions in the life of many people, not least performing artists. Theatres and performing spaces had to close down. Artists have been forced to create work in new spaces, including online. Even though we witnessed new emerging possibilities in the disrupted world, the end is but a distant hope. Society has become more brittle, and artists and creators more vulnerable than ever. We start to look for things to hold on to, so that we can still move forward. Art must persist. But how then do we start to seek and grasp strength in order to get back up on our feet? The theme of OWNERSHIP invites you to explore your ownership of things around you. In body, gender, work, property, ideologies, opinions, world views and history. To find out what you truly own and therefore can voice and make choices for it. When we do know that we have a rightful ownership of something, can we then embrace, create with, and direct it in the way that we dream of? I would like to invite artists and audiences alike to rejoin, recharge and rekindle your creativity in order to move onwards in the upcoming online BIPAM 2021 Ownership.”

ทำไมถึงมาเป็น OWNERSHIP
มาอ่านข้อเขียนจากปูเป้-ศศพินทุ์ ศิริวาณิชย์ Artistic Director ของ BIPAM2021 ในปีนี้กัน
“เวลาที่เราอ่อนแรงและรู้สึกไร้ความหมายที่สุด อาจเป็นเวลาที่เรารู้สึกว่าไม่มีอะไรเลยที่เป็นของเรา ไม่มีอะไรเลยที่เราเลือกและกำหนดเองได้ ความเป็นไปรอบตัวดูจะถูกผลัก กรอบ บีบ และบอกด้วยคนอื่นหรืออย่างอื่นไปเสียหมด
ความรู้สึกนี้เกิดขึ้นหลังจากโควิด 19 ถาโถมซาซัดมาตั้งแต่ต้นปี 2020 นำพาคำถามมากมายมาสู่ชีวิตของทุกคน คนทำงานศิลปะการแสดงเองก็เป็นหนึ่งในนั้น โรงละครหรือพื้นที่การแสดงต้องปิดตัว ศิลปินถูกผลักให้ทำงานในพื้นที่ที่แตกต่าง อย่างออนไลน์ แม้เราได้เป็นประจักษ์พยานถึงความเป็นไปได้ใหม่ๆ ยามเมื่อโลกถูกดิสรัปต์ แต่เมื่อสถานการณ์ยืดเยื้ออย่างไม่รู้ว่าจะจบลงเมื่อไร สังคมเปราะบางลง ศิลปินและคนทำงานสร้างสรรค์อ่อนกำลังกว่าที่เคย เราต่างเริ่มมองหาทางยึดเหนี่ยว เพื่อให้เดินหน้าต่อไปได้
ศิลปะจำเป็นต้องคงอยู่ ทว่า เรานั้นจะเริ่มคว้าหาความแข็งแรงเพื่อลุกขึ้นยืนอีกครั้งอย่างไรดี
BIPAM2021 จึงเกิดขึ้นพร้อมธีม Ownership หรือความเป็นเจ้าของ เพื่อที่จะชวนทุกคนมาสำรวจสิ่งต่างๆ รอบตัว ไม่ว่าจะเป็น ร่างกาย เพศสภาวะ ผลงาน ทรัพย์สิน ความคิดอ่าน ความคิดเห็น การมองโลก กระทั่งประวัติศาสตร์ ให้รู้แน่ชัดว่าอะไรบ้างที่จริงๆ แล้วเราเป็นเจ้าของและมีสิทธิ์มีเสียงกับมันได้
เมื่อเรารับรู้ว่าเราเป็นเจ้าของสิ่งใดสิ่งหนึ่งอย่างชอบธรรมและเต็มที่แล้ว เราจะโอบรับมัน สร้างสรรค์กับมัน และกำหนดมันไปในทิศที่เราใฝ่ฝันถึงได้ดีขึ้นกว่าเดิมไหม
อยากเชิญชวนคนทำงานศิลปะและผู้ชมกลับมาเจอกัน มาพัก มาเติมพลังสร้างสรรค์ให้แก่กันเพื่อเดินหน้าต่อไป บนพื้นที่ออนไลน์แห่งนี้ ใน BIPAM2021 Ownership ที่กำลังจะเกิดขึ้น”
