“...From day 1 of planning for this project to now, I feel we have gone much beyond anything we could imagine when we first started. We embarked on a journey whose destination we didn't really know. What we've got instead is an increasingly strong sense of true solidarity in Southeast Asia. It's like visiting friends at home one by one, and we learn about our art communities in the region not only through what they do, but who they are. This kind of deep understanding is what BIPAM wants to nurture, so the region that we call Southeast Asia, regardless of the specific country and despite all our differences and complexities, can feel more and more like home to all of us.
It is especially important to reach out to each other in the difficult times. With or without COVID-19, we Southeast Asians have different social struggles that we fight as artists and art practitioners everyday. The pandemic was what we all took as an opportunity to stop being rolled away by our (other) problems for a bit, and take the time to look each other in the eye and feel once again the human beings that we are. In this way, we refuel the fire for each other knowing that we are not alone in our struggles. And a little fire does go a long, long way.
At the moment of writing this, Thailand is going through a big change for the future - a battle that's not going to be easy to win, but we are hopeful. Solidarity has never before meant so much and so close to home.
Biggest thanks to the entire BIPAM team and our amazing speakers and their insightful contribution from Malaysia, Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos, Singapore, Myanmar, Vietnam, Brunei, the Philippines, Timor-Leste, and Thailand. Our speakers have greatly inspired us with what they do for their communities, and we are humbled and honored that our platform could be a space to share this with the world.”

The City & The City: Divided Senses by BIPAM x F/T (Exhibition)
BIPAM and Festival/Tokyo would like to invite you to a presentation exhibition from our collaboration project between Bangkok and Tokyo "The City & The City: Divided Senses (Bangkok Edition 2020)". The exhibition are the results from the exchanges and creative encounters between Bangkok and Tokyo' artists, translated and presented by 3 Bangkok artists.

The Indonesian Dance Festival
In the midst of the pandemic outbreak, the Indonesian Dance Festival (IDF), an international contemporary dance festival, held biannually since 1992, will take place from November 7 - 14, 2020.
This year’s festival, called IDF2020.zip, marks the extraordinary circumstances we're all functioning under, and the move to an online platform. This year's theme, DAYA: Cari Cara, is a response to the need to empower ourselves and others with resilience in the face of difficult situations. Cari Cara means "looking for ways" in Indonesian and refers to the need to keep exploring and transitioning to keep the performing arts alive during the current situation.

Israeli Embassy x BIPAM activities in Bangkok Theatre Festival (Screening)
OUTSIDE: a COVID-19 Fairy Tale. Based on a short story by Etgar Keret that was first published in the New York Times. A short film directed by renowned Israeli choreographer Inbal Pinto and Keret himself. Starring Israeli dancer Moran Muller and Japanese dancer and actor Mirai Moriyama. The film, an initiative of the Israeli Embassy in Tokyo as a unique Corona time cultural exchange, premiered last summer simultaneously on huge public screens in the heart of three major cities: National Theatre in Tel Aviv, Times Square in New York City, and Shibuya crossing, Tokyo.
The screening is followed by a conversation on "the Body and Movement during Lockdown" with Thai and Southeast Asian artists who navigated their body and performance during the COVID-19 lockdown period.

จากวันแรกที่เราเริ่มทำโครงการ Under the SEA จนถึงตอนนี้ ถือว่าเราเดินทางเกินเป้าหมายไปไกลมาก เหมือนเริ่มเดินทางโดยไม่แน่ใจว่าจุดมุ่งหมายคือที่ไหน แตเราก็มาจบที่ความรู้สึกผูกพันแน่นแฟ้นมากขึ้นในภูิมภาคเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ ความรู้สึกเหมือนได้ไปเยี่ยมเพื่อนที่บ้าน พูดคุยกันใกล้ชิด ทำให้เราได้รู้จักเพื่อนๆ ของเราลึกซึ้งขึ้น ซึ่งเป็นสิ่งที่ BIPAM ต้องการผลักดัน เพื่อให้ภูมิภาคนี้รู้สึกเหมือนเป็นบ้านของเราทุกๆ คนมากขึ้น
การเชื่อมโยงติดต่อกันในภาวะที่ยากลำบากเป็นเรื่องสำคัญ ภูมิภาคของเรานั้นมีปัญหาภายในของแต่ละคนที่ต้องแก้ไขและบรรเทากันรายวันอยู่แล้ว เมื่อวิกฤติโรคระบาดมาถึง เราได้ใช้โอกาสนี้ในการหยุดพักจากปัญหาอื่นๆ ของเรากลับมามองเพื่อนๆ รอบตัวเราในฐานะมนุษย์ด้วยกันอีกครั้ง การเชื่อมโยงเช่นนี้ อย่างน้อยที่สุดก็เป็นการเติมพลังใจให้แก่กันว่าเราไม่ได้โดดเดี่ยวในเส้นทางของเรา แม้จะฟังดูเป็นเรื่องเล็กน้อยแต่เป็นแรงสำคัญที่จะทำอะไรๆ ให้เกิดขึ้นได้ในอนาคต
ประเทศไทยเองก็กำลังอยู่ในช่วงเปลี่ยนผ่านสู่อนาคตที่จะไม่เหมือนเดิม การต่อสู้นี้สำคัญ และเราก็มีความหวัง แต่นี่ไม่ใช่ชัยชนะที่จะได้มาโดยง่าย การผนึกกำลังกับเพื่อนๆใg นภูมิภาคครั้งนี้จึงมีความหมายกับเรามากเป็นพิเศษในช่วงเวลาเช่นนี้
ขอขอบคุณทีม BIPAM ทุกๆ คนและวิทยากรรับเชิญจากทั้ง 11 ประเทศ BIPAM รู้สึกเป็นเกียรติอย่างยิ่งที่ได้เป็นพื้นที่แบ่งปันเรื่องราวจากเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้เหล่านี้กับชุมชนนานาชาติ

The City & The City: Divided Senses by BIPAM x F/T (Exhibition)
BIPAM ร่วมกับ Festival/Tokyo (F/T) ชวนผู้ชมมาชมนิทรรศการในโครงการความร่วมมือระหว่าง กรุงเทพฯ และ โตเกียว "The City & The City: Divided Senses" ที่ได้คัดเลือกศิลปินจากสองเมือง มาทำการค้นหา "สัมผัสทั้งห้า" จากเมืองที่ตนเองอยู่ เพื่อแลกเปลี่ยนกับศิลปินในอีกเมืองหนึ่งผ่าน แพลตฟอร์มออนไลน์ที่สัมผัสต่างๆ ถูกจำกัด และนำข้อมูล มา “แปล” และนำเสนอกระบวนการ แลกเปลี่ยนและสร้างสรรค์ผลงานในนิทรรศการศิลปะเชิงทดลองที่ผสมผสานการทำงานข้ามศาสตร์

เทศกาลศิลปะการเต้นอินโดนีเซีย
เทศกาลศิลปะการเต้นอินโดนีเซีย (Indonesian Dance Festival: IDF) เป็นเทศกาลศิลปะการเต้นร่วมสมัยนานาชาติที่จัดขึ้นทุกๆ 2 ปี ตั้งแต่ปีพ.ศ. 2535 โดยในปีนี้ เทศกาลจะจัดขึ้นระหว่างวันที่ 7-14 พฤศจิกายน 2563 ท่ามกลางวิกฤตการณ์โรคระบาดที่กำลังเกิดขึ้นทั่วโลก
เทศกาลในปีนี้ มีชื่อว่า “IDF2020.zip” เพื่อแสดงถึงสถานการณ์อันไม่ปกติที่ผู้จัดเทศกาลและคนทำงานศิลปะทั่วโลกกำลังเผชิญอยู่ และการเคลื่อนย้ายไปทำงานในดิจิตัลแพลตฟอร์ม แนวคิด “DAYA: Cari Cara” ซึ่งเป็นแนวคิดหลักของเทศกาลเป็นการสนองต่อความต้องการเสริมความสามารถในการปรับตัว เพื่อให้รับมือกับช่วงเวลาอันยากลำบากนี้ได้ คำว่า Cari Cara เป็นคำภาษาอินโดนีเซีย หมายถึงการ “มองหาหนทาง” อันเป็นสิ่งจำเป็นที่คนทำงานศิลปะต้องพยายามสำรวจและหาวิธีการเปลี่ยนแปลง เพื่อให้ศิลปะการแสดงยังคงอยู่และทำหน้าที่ของมันต่อไปในสถานการณ์ปัจจุบันนี้

‘OUTSIDE’ เทพนิยายโควิด-19 เรื่องสั้นโดย เอ็ตการ์ เคเร็ต ที่ตีพิมพ์ครั้งแรกในนิวยอร์กไทมส์ ได้นำมา ถ่ายทอดในรูปแบบของภาพยนตร์สั้น กำกับโดยนักออกแบบท่าเต้นชื่อดังชาวอิสราเอล อินบาล พินโท ร่วมกับ เคเร็ต แสดงโดยนักเต้นชาวอิสราเอล โมราน มุลเลอร์ และนักเต้นชาวญี่ปุ่น มิราอิ โมริยามา ซึ่งเป็นการแลกเปลี่ยนด้านวัฒนธรรมในช่วงการแพร่ระบาดของเชื้อไวรัสโคโรนา ริเริ่มโดยสถาน เอกอัครราชทูตอิสราเอล ณ กรุงโตเกียว ภาพยนตร์สั้นเรื่องนี้เปิดตัวต่อสายตาโลกอย่างเป็นทางการเมื่อฤดูร้อนที่ผ่านมา โดยฉายพร้อมกัน บนหน้าจอยักษ์กลางเมืองใหญ่สามแห่ง ได้แก่ โรงภาพยนตร์แห่งชาติ ในนครเทลอาวีฟ จัตุรัสไทม์สแควร์ ในมหานครนิวยอร์ก และย่านชิบูยาในกรุงโตเกียว
ชมภาพยนตร์พร้อมเข้าร่วมเสวนาต่อยอดประเด็น "ร่างกายและการเคลื่อนไหวในภาวะล็อกดาวน์" กับศิลปินจากไทยและเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ ที่ทำงานกับภาวะร่างกายและสถานการณ์ที่เปลี่ยนไป ในช่วงล็อกดาวน์
วันที่ 29 พฤศจิกายน พ.ศ.2563 เวลา 14.00 – 15.45 น.
